How to Find Job Listings for Writers

There are many websites that advertise job listings for freelance writers of all sorts and styles, but what about when you want to look for job listings for writers off line? There are opportunities available for the classified advert still stands proud, but perhaps it would be better to concentrate on more specialised areas of advertising that could be of use.

Many companies and corporations need writers all the time; technical writing ability is a big draw when it comes to securing a writing job, and the freelance technical writer is much sought after. The best place to start looking for such jobs could be in the situations vacant pages of trade journals. These are magazines and newspapers dedicated to the industry concerned and are where those requiring writers and other employees of a specialist nature advertise as a matter of course.

Another route that may be of use is to browse the same pages in the major national newspapers; the companies needing quality writers will advertise in a quality publication, after all. If your requirement is for more local work then the local newspapers can be a source of work, although contacting them first hand is a better bet than looking for adverts within their pages.

There are also many specialist magazines for writers that are aimed at those with more creative efforts to offer; these will advertise for writers who can contribute to anthologies and such, and maybe even offer to self publish for you, but beware of those asking for money up front - the basic rule is do not pay it!

Local libraries will advertise writing groups and these can be an excellent source of work, for they may be where locals go to look for copywriters; furthermore, offering your services around the local area to businesses who may want advertising or marketing material written can result in some excellent contacts.

The varied and wide range of writing jobs that are available makes the search more than the work of a moment, but rest assured with patience and persistence you will find those jobs.
